Get PR after working on PGWP

Hi. I’m a Commercial Pilot from Argentina and I’m interested in converting my license in Canada. What flight schools offer me is the conversion program that takes two months and the Instructor Rating program that takes 8 months. After that, I would be able to apply for a PGWP, and start working as an instructor. My question is, if I work those 10 months on PGWP, what are my chances of getting a Permanent Residence afterwards?

Thank you very much!

What school do you plan to attend? Most flight schools do not qualify for a PGWP. You'll want to check the DLI list to confirm the PGWP field is checked and the school qualifies.

PR is never guaranteed with a PGWP. Generally speaking, we very strongly recommend that individuals complete at least a 2 year program so that they qualify for a three year PGWP. It's generally much more difficult to qualify for PR with just a 1 year (or 10 month) PGWP). For example, the Canadian Experience Class program will be out since you won't be able to get a year of Canadian work experience - you also won't be able to get points for Canadian work experience towards Express Entry (since you will have less than a year of work here). I would recommend that you calculate how many points you think you would have under the Express Entry system. Right now you need around 460 points to be selected from the pool. This will give you an idea of how realistic your plans are and how likely they are to succeed.

Thanks for the reply. So if I want a PGWP for more than a year, what can I do apart from Flight Training that gives me 10 months?

You need to attend school for two years to qualify for a three year PGWP. It's really up to you what you take apart from flight training. Just make sure ALL of the schools / programs you attend qualify for a PGWP. Again, the vast majority of flight programs do not.

Great! So then if apart from Flight School I attend at the same time a university for a 1 year diploma, I will get the Flight School’s 10 months plus 1 year from the university?

No. You can't attend both at the same time. You will have to complete the flight program first and then complete the second program afterwards (both programs need to be full time). I assume you've checked and confirmed your flight school program qualifies for a PGWP?

Yes, I’m in contact with some Flight Schools that apply for PGWP. So given your experience, what would you recommend me to do to have more chances on getting a PR apart from Flight School?

Flight schools don't apply for PGWPs - you are the one who has to apply. I would recommend you look up each school you are speaking to here and make sure the PGWP column says "yes":

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/study-permit/prepare/designated-learning-institutions-list.html

No one here can recommend what you should take. That's really up to you. If your objective is PR - then I would recommend that you dedicate time to researching Canada's immigration programs so that you get an understanding of what it takes to qualify.

I meant that the Flight Schools I’ve contacted are on the DLI list. So if I go to Canada and take the Flight School program for 10 months and after that I take a 4 months course on Business for example, I will be able to apply for a 14 months PGWP?

Look up the rules for pgwp, seriously.
In order to combine two programs for pgwp both of them have to qualify for pgwp, a 4 month program does not qualify for pgwp.
