Hello guys/Senior,

I am currently have to make a decision regarding my future in Canada. Within months from now, I will be finishing my one year post-graduate diploma from university of Ottawa in Canada. Currently i have two choices:

1) apply for graduation and waiting for my one year pgwp then going for express entry. I have a 3 years of foreign work experience and foreign bachelors (in computer engineering, it has been evaluated by wes already as 4 years degree).

2) apply to continue my masters degree ( and pay another 12000 dollars which is a lot for me) with hope that I can get from 1.5 to 3 years pgwp (similar to my seniors).

Which path is better from your point of view ? Does it worth it to pay another 12000 for that ?

Thanks

It all depends on your CRS score. Without that, we cannot give you advice.

Going for a PR is always better if you want to continue living in Canada and have enough points. It reduces the cost of masters significantly.

If your age is around 29 and can get 8-7-7-7 in IELTS you would be in netter stance at getting PR just after 1 year diploma and 1 year foreign experience..

I am 28 years old so If i got IELTS 8-7-7-7 it will be 483 ( with the diploma ) or 495 ( with masters ). I am not sure if the CRS cutoff rates returned back to the rate it was in 2016 ( 480+). I think it will be a challenge. What do you think ?

CRS scores have dropped significantly in 2017. Lowest was about 415 points. Now it's in the 450-470 range. You can find all scores from previous rounds on the IRCC website. There's always a chance it can go lower again. You have a pretty comfortable score, so go for a PR. It'll make your life in Canada a lot easier.

That what I though off, until one of my friends mentioned that the coming CRS cutoff depends on the coming elections in October.
