Yes, he can do any masters or diploma as it's gonna take more than 1.5 years to complete the sponsorship program. My assumption on sponsorship program:
Getting a stable job in Canada: 3 months
Settling in job and location: 6 months
Applying for sponsorship: 1 month
Sponsorship process: 6 to 10 months
So it's a minimum of 20 months. for most of this 20 months you cannot be together as you will be working in Canada and he will be in India (guessing you are from India).

He can certainly apply and if approved, be here as as student while you sponsor him. However, the chances of a study permit being approved when he is married to a PR are very low.

I added my wife after getting COPR. Got married in November 2018, Informed CIC about marriage on December, Got request to submit my passport for COPR cancellation on Jan2019. CIC requested me to submit my wife's documents and medical on Feb2019. They gave one month time and I submitted the requested documents on 15 Feb 2019 except birth certificate. Again CIC requested for her Birth Certificate by 15 Mar 2019 and submitted on 15th March. Still waiting for update on my application. During this time my medical expired and status changed from Passed to You don't need medical exam. My guess is, after updating your application about your marriage, it's gonna take more than 6 months.

I received my re-medical request from CIC last week on 14-Aug-2019.

My medical expired also. I submitted spouse documents on may 1st. No updates so far. I suppose they extend medical for inland applicants. Not sure

Yeah its a sign that your application is in the final leg. Just quickly submit your new medical results and you should have your PR email soon!

I have gone through medicals already on 16-Aug-2019 and I suppose I don't need to send the proof of medicals to IRCC. Right? Because the medical center will send directly.

Yes they would but safe side you too can upload the proof via a web form

I have cleared the re-medical exam but, no changes in other things. I was expecting everything at once

When did the status change?
Most others I am aware of are getting their PPR emails a few days after their status changes. Not sure exactly how many days but yes they are getting it. CIC just has a lot of work load hence I think it is not sending all the updates at once

August 23rd. I have requested my GCMS notes 3 weeks back. Once I receive it, I will have full update on the status I guess. Thank you so much for your hope.
