Closed work permit laid off

An employer brought me in here by giving closed work permit which is valid for 2 years i.e. till 2021. Just after 2 months, employer laid me off stating that they do not have projects for me without a notice period.

I want to know my rights?

I have been called as skilled worker through global talent stream (fast-track) program and then employer ruined my life.I want to live here and work.
How can I change my conditions of work permit? can I apply for BOWP? or is there any other way?

NOTE: I know that finding a new employer would change conditions of my WP but I am not getting one who can sponsor that.

In regards to the lay off, you need to look at the labour standards for your province.

In regards to immigration, no, you don't qualify for a BOWP. You would need a job offer with an LMIA from a new employer in order to apply for a new work permit.

Unfortunately there's no way to change the conditions on your existing work permit.

You can only qualify for a BOWP if you have submitted an application for PR through an economic immigration stream and that application has been accepted by IRCC. So not an option for you unless there's something you haven't told us and you have an active PR application in progress.

As you've said, you will need to find a new employer who is willing to give you a job offer and obtain an approved LMIA so that you can apply for a new closed work permit. Once you have the new closed work permit, you'll be able to start working again. Good luck.

1. No, as your work permit has more than 4 months to run.

Do you meet all of the other requirements for a BOWP? If so, you can try applying. There have been cases of people laid off and who had permits valid longer than 4 months who got a BOWP approved by applying and explaining the situation.
