Unfortunately immigration does not publish a processing time for PRTDs, could be a week could be a number of weeks and really can depend where the PRTD is being processed.Do you know how much time does it take for PRTD to arrive i.e from applying to receiving whats the lead time ? Thank You
Did you end up mailing the card overseas?Thank you for the info! Appreciate your help
Many folks do that and are able to get it with no problems. It is not illegal to do so but it is akin to posting your passport.Did you end up mailing the card overseas?
Use a courier not standard post given a courier at least will give a bit more security door to door. Many folks do that and are able to get it with no problems. It is not illegal to do so but it is akin to posting your passport.
1. The CBSA officer was wrong, IRCC doesn't mail PR card outside Canada.Hi All,
I did my landing last weekend for my PR Process. I actually drove rental car from US to Canada through Peace bridge. When the Visa Officer asked me when are you going to take up your residence, I informed him sometime in November or December this year due to my project commitment in US.
She asked me to write down the address where I want my PR card to me mailed and I wrote my friend's address. She asked me how long will be in this address and my reply was for a week. So she asked me write the address where I will bale to sign the receipt of the package and I told her that I will be in US and she instructed me to write down my US address and CIC will send the PR card to US through Canada Post. I checked with her again and she confirmed it.
She even wrote my US address in my Son's COPR form.
So for guys travelling from US, you can use your address for CIC to mail your PR card but check withe the Officer before.
Can you update this thread once the pr card gets delivered or not, it is either a mistake or a change in rules. Latter seems unlikely.Hi All,

I think you may be about to discover that CBSA are NOT IRCC specialists and do not always do or say correct things! When we did a soft landing at Ottawa airport, the CBSA agent was adamant that if we had goods to follow, that was our only chance to declare them. I showed him the CBSA official rules that state you do goods to follow when landing as settler. He shuffled off and showed them to his supervisor, who tgen came across and spoke to us. I explained we were only landing to declare pr and would land as settler later. He confirmed that was fine and waved us through. I think perhaps there was an interesting conversation with our original CBSA agent after we left!Hi All,

Did it work for you? It will be great if someone could let me know if I would need PRTD if I'm driving to Canada from US. Soft landing and final move I'm planning to drive.Hi All,

HiHello,
Is it safe to mail PR card overseas using Canada post? I might sound cheap but courier charges of mailing packages to my country are minimum $110 plus taxes which I found too much. As opposed to this regular post charges are around $3. Because of this huge difference I thought of considering Canada post provided it is safe. Also I don't care if it arrives in 3-4 weeks as I am not bound by time.
Any ideas on Canada post?
