Hi, well... last february I bought a ticket to vancouver to leave on April 18th.
I have a valid eTA since 2017 and have traveled 3 different times making the right use of it, as a tourist, not working or school, have pastport stamps and airplane itineries to match information of entry and exit of the country.
When I arrive at the airpot they let me know my eTA was cancelled and that I had recevid and email, letting me know... I confirm the information in my junk mail:

Following an assessment of your file, it has been determined that you no longer meet the requirements for an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). As a result, your eTA has been cancelled.

Your application has been cancelled for the following reason(s):
You have misrepresented or withheld material facts relating to a matter that induced or could have induced an error in the administration of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act which would render you inadmissible to Canada as per section 40(1)(a)

Your file is now closed. Should you wish to reapply for an eTA, we encourage you to do so only once you have addressed the reason(s) for the cancellation of your application. At that time, you may submit a new application at www.canada.ca/eTA

You are no longer considered to hold a valid eTA. As such, you should not plan or undertake any travel to Canada by air. If you do decide to travel to Canada, you may experience delays or be prevented from boarding your flight and/or entering Canada.

The last time I was there I left with no problems, I really dont understand, and when I inquired and they replied they sent me the same info. I had find online that doesnt apply to me:

Dear applicant,

You may be denied a visa, or an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), refused entry to, or removed from Canada for any of these reasons:

· security reasons, including

o espionage

o subversion (attempts to overthrow a government, etc.)

o violence or terrorism, or

o membership in an organization involved in any of these

· human or international rights violations, including

o war crimes

o crimes against humanity

o being a senior official in a government engaged in gross human rights violations or subject to international sanctions

· committing a crime, including driving while under the influence of drugs or alcoholFootnote 1

· organized crime, including membership in an organization that takes part in organized criminal activity, people smuggling or money laundering

· medical reasons – which include medical conditions that:

o endanger public health

o endanger public safety, or

o causes excessive demand on health or social services (some applicants are exempt)

· financial reasons – if you’re unable or unwilling to support yourself and your family members

· misrepresentation, which includes providing false information or withholding information directly related to decisions made under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA)

· failure to comply with any provision of IRPAFootnote 2 or

· having an inadmissible family member.

I replied that none of this applies to me so there was another reply that basically told me reaply, ofcourse I had already since day 1 from the airport in hope to save my trip, Its been 4 months now and the new application is still not approved; finall desition: not started.

I don't even understan if i did something wrong, I know that I followed all the rules and that I haven't even gotten a chance to clarify or even aedress the reasons and explain and proove.

Any suggetions on who to reach or what to do next? I have been very patience letting this take the natural course but this was going to be our 3rd summer in beautiful BC and it had to be cancelled.

Thanx in advanced.

I have the same problem, I've travelled to Canada since 2017 staying from weeks to close to 2 months in Montreal with my now fiance (she is there with a work permit). On the day of my flight i was told my eTA was cancelled, checking it says:
"Your application has been cancelled for the following reason(s):
You have misrepresented yourself to obtain an eTA and are not authorised to hold an eTA under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act"
So I resubmitted for an eTA and got the notice that my case was diverted to the Canadian Mission in Mexico.

I am concerned as to why they would say i misrepresented myself, more concerned that reading in the IRCC page says they could ban me for 5 years.

Does any body know what to expect in time frame to get a response from the Canadian mission?

How much time have you been spending in Canada over the last year? What % of your time in Canada vs. Mexico?

OK - so visiting too often is not the issue.

Have you by any chance ever been refused a visa to Canada or any other country that you failed to declare in the eTA?

And you declared the US refusal in your eTA application?

I believe i did declare it. Is there a way I confirm what I've entered at that time?
I know that in the new application form it doesn't mentioned anything about other countries besides Canada.

I don't know if there's any way to check what you entered in your original application.

That's absolutely not true.

The question asked is "Have you ever been refused a visa or permit, denied entry to, or ordered to leave Canada or any other country/territory?" (my emphasis)

You can see the form here: https://www.canada.ca/content/dam/ircc/migration/ircc/english/pdf/eta/english.pdf

If you interpreted that to mean *only* Canada, and didn't declare a US visa denial, you misrepresented yourself.

If you want to see what you entered, you need the eTA number and you can file an ATIP request, but you'll need someone in Canada to do that for you. May as well request your GCMS notes at the same time.

Sorry, I meant that when I appplied for a new eTA that question was not there as I had to enter that I already had one.
What concerns me now, is that I did not received any other kind of information as I've seen that some people got banned for entry but they received an email or it was in the cancelation notice. I didn't and thus I am wondering if i need to instead go for a visa instead of a eTA.
