Medical in Canada for super visa

Hi Bannya,

My parents got super visa last year Sept. 2018) with medical surveillance undertaking.

They came to Canada two weeks ago. Last week, they got one letter from local health department ( community disease control service) for “you are required to report a provincial/ territorial health authority for the monitoring of your health within 30 days of landing “.
I called on providing phone number and they told me “ my parents have do full medical exam again in Canada in next 6 months.”

I don’t understand, why do they have to go again full medical in Canada on their own expense. They already cleared their medical in India and got super visa.

Is it new rule for super visa medical ? Please advise

Medical surveillance undertaking is separate from the medical itself. This is an additional requirement your parents must meet.

No - this isn't a rule for new super visas - this is something your parents have been specifically asked to do as a result of the medicals they completed for the super visa process or based on some aspect of their application.

It's mandatory they complete the medical surveillance undertaking. This is a condition of their super visa being granted. If they fail to do as directed, you can expect their super visas to be canceled.

Note that they did not in fact fully clear the medical in India. The fact they have the medical surveillance undertaking attached to their super visa approval means they only conditionally passed the medical in India.

They already done their complete medical check up in India through CIC approved doctors. They got further medical test in India and they cleared that one too.

According to medical officers in my town in Canada, They have to get full medical tests on their own expenses. That would be in thousands dollars.

I heard few months ago, they need only chest X-ray only. Please let me advise, do they really need it? It’s very expensive. Thanks again

If your parents had been fully cleared, the wouldn't have been given the medical surveillance undertaking as a condition for super visa approval. Based on your older posts, it looks like there was a history or concern of TB. So it makes sense why they are being required to undergo additional tests once here. Canada takes TB extremely seriously.

I can't comment on the costs or what exact tests need to be done. A chest x-ray will be required at a minimum. The doctor may require additional tests. Yes - they (or you) will have to bear the costs of these additional tests.

Again, this isn't option. Yes - they absolutely must get this done. As said before, they should expect their super visas to be canceled if they ignore these instructions. Their super visas were issued conditional on the medical surveillance undertaking being completed.
