Do I Need To Report New Employment from India?

Hello,
I'm from India, and I'm the primary applicant, along with my wife, for Express Entry to Canada. We have about 6 days left in our timeline tracker. We completed our AOR on 7 Feb, cleared medicals on March 22, and completed Biometrics on April 26. Our current stage online shows:
  • We are reviewing whether you meet the eligibility requirements.
  • We are reviewing the additional documents you provided.
  • We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information.

I'm writing to ask for assistance. I have been currently unemployed for three years, taking up freelance work when a project comes my way. We had estimated getting our PPR much earlier in hopes to fly to Canada by September - October. Since we've noticed many people reporting a delay, and ours feeling like it's delayed as well, our current financial situation warrants that I take up some form of full-time employment. My question is: Do I need to contact and report to the IRCC/update my profile if I procure a job?

As a side note, employers in my country are averse to immigration, and at the slightest hint of the possibility that a potential candidate is seeking or has applied for immigration, denies a job due to various factors. This would not only make it difficult to find suitable employment but also near to impossible to get a reference letter required for the express entry.

Additionally, if employment does come through, I will begin with a 6-month probation. I can ensure certain terms are met in the contract letter, primarily that either I or the employer can terminate the contract without any bearing or legal consequences. It is usually the norm in my profession to have such a probation period.

I have had several experiences in the past in job interviews where I was refused the job because of my choice to immigrate.

On the other hand, I'm worried that if the Canadian Express Entry takes longer, there might be financial problems for us, but I also don't wish to further delay the application by making any changes/amendments to it. Would not declaring be construed as misrepresentation, especially since even getting a new job wouldn't affect the CRS score (Min 1 year needed for the score to be affected if I'm correct?)

I welcome thoughts specifically about whether I need to inform the IRCC of my change in employment if it happens.

Thank you.

In rare cases, IRCC can try and verify if an applicant is still working at a company for a job they listed as current/ongoing in their application - but since you were unemployed at the time of application, this isn't relevant for you, and you don't need to inform them that you have "changed" jobs.

If you do choose to let them know about it, you will not be required to provide a reference letter anyway - since you are not claiming points for it.

No, it will not be construed as misrepresentation.

And no, only one of your work experiences needs to be continuous for 1 year. You can have 2 experiences for example, 2.5 years and 0.5 years, and that would give you points for 3 years - however this is irrelevant in your case since this experience needs to be gained before your application is submitted, not while its ongoing.

Yes exactly what I was thinking.
I haven't mentioned any current job during my application, and if all goes well, I might just get a surprise PPR request maybe 1-2 weeks past the tracker deadline. I am just preparing if in case it goes to 1-2 months of no update.

I would prefer not to let them know about the new job, if I get any, because it would further delay the application and it'd be impossible to get the reference letter to prove work...and since I'm joining recently, it wouldn't contribute to the score at all.

I was just worried that should I get a job and don't disclose it constitutes as misrepresentation of information since perhaps the proof of job can be viewed in my tax returns as TDS on salary?

Don't overthink it, you'll be fine. Any future job is post-aor so it will not count as misrepresentation.

The only things you must disclose post-aor is a change of ongoing jobs that you claimed, or if you lost a job/job offer that you had in Canada that you claimed points for.

Hi,

I need a bit of assistance here. My situation is quite similar.

I have 8 years work experience in total. First 5 years fits in NOC 1111. I resigned from the job after 5 years. I have been with my current employer for the past three years. The problem is that I am not sure which NOC my current job fits in, and it will be quite difficult for me to get a reference letter from my current employer.

My question is that do I need to state my current job in my application? I am thinking since my previous job suffices and I’m sure of the NOC for that, I don’t want to complicate matters by stating my current job.

Additional info: I am yet to join the pool. I am awaiting my WES.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Any experience you don't want or cannot provide documents for, you don't have to list under work history.

After you receive the invitation to apply, you can add your current experience under personal history section only - that way you will not need to provide any reference letter for it.
