Hi guys,
This is my situation. I'm Canadian. My spouse is a naturalized American. She was born and raised in Guangzhou China and immigrated to the US in 03. For the police certificate, how can we go back and get it? She doesn't know anyone there. She no longer has her hukou (the identity card/housing registration). We don't want to fly back to China just to get this piece of paper, and also with no guarantee that she will be able to get it.
I'm hiring a lawyer who deals with CHinese clients all the time in Vancouver and praying that he can help, but what if we can't get it? She has lived in the US for the past 8 years, no criminal record whatsoever. If she can immigrate to the US, she must've been able to get one of these certificates years ago and you'd think it'd be ok... Any advice?
