Dear all,

I am in a difficult situation. I have my husband working in Canada as my dependent. I came to Canada as an intentional student. My CRS score is 450. I cannot add my husband as it will drop my score and we will never be invited to apply. Kindly advise if it is OK to apply solo and get the PR or I might have problems if I declare my husband as non-accompanying in the express entry application. Kindly advise.

Thank you very much for the suggestions you can provide.

Please be careful. I had a similar situation in 2016 that my husband did not add me on his application and cic said he can never sponsor me again. What ever u do make sure u declare him maybe as an unaccompanied family member and they will ask for reasons why he is not accompanying you. Try to come up with a convincing reason. Better still call cic contact Centre and try asking they could be helpful at times.

You must add him to your profile.
You can list him as non accompanying. That's totally fine.

I will 100% declare him as my husband.

He is already here on workpermit. I am worried as our CRS score is low if we both apply at first. However, I f I will apply for my self first, I can apply for him later. Thus, I am not sure If I can declare him non accompny when he is already here living with me.

Gwentita, Thank you very much for sharing your experience here. I am worried as if I can declare him non accompanying while he is already here in Canada. I will definitely tell in the application that I am married. However, I am not sure if I can say that I do not want to accompany my husband because we cannot get enough CRS if we both apply at first. Can I get your contact information to talk to you about this as to how you solved the problem.

You can. Not an issue.
