Canada is not India, we don't care about drama that occurs in other Countries, as long as all papers are legal and your relationship is genuine then you should be fine. Since you are born and raised here, you should know that parents of newlyweds have no voice here in Canada, not like in India where they have arranged marriages usually planned by parents. Your Mom as no voice, she can't do nothing.

Yes there is a portion in the application package where they ask such questions such as people (Family members/friends) that were present.

If you have a good explanation for these questions you will still be accepted.

I talked to a lawyer, he said I would just have to attach a brief description detailing what had gone on and submit additional proof as to support my explanation. It's really nothing to worry about.
