Have you activated your study permit and you are enrolled in a course/college ? You do not need a valid TRV as long as your study permit is valid and you are enrolled. You need a valid TRV to come back to Canada if you decide to travel out of Canada at any time which is why most people would recommend keeping a valid TRV in case.

No I have not activated my study Permit. Yes I enrolled in a college. The officer at the border told me I came early and she couldn’t give
