Medical Condition: Specific query

This is regarding declaration of any medical condition in form IMM5419e. I was treated for colon cancer in Feb 2011 and I am undergoing continuous check up with all the required tests done at yearly basis and I am absolutely fit till date. Further, i have all the reports available with me.

While review of Medical form IMM5419e, I note following two points:
3. Prolonged Illness History
7. Cancer in last five years

I am confused now, shall i declare my surgery in point number 3 as I have scars and incision on my body OR shall I go ahead without declaring anything because I don't have cancer in last 5 years?
If I declare, my application may be rejected under "Excessive demand on health" clause. Request your feedback on my case.

Yes in your medical you should tell the doctor that you had colon cancer and that’s why you have scars. Previous cancer won’t necessarily lead to refusal especially after over 5 years.

Hi.. I'm not sure what the medical condition is so I can't comment on that. But as per new rules over a period of 5 years the quota is approx 99K, which makes it almost neglible for people to get refusals based on medical grounds. My mom's medical was under review for 4 months and a few days and then she passed her medical just few days ago. Her treatment for cancer is still going on and she has a treatment plan for next few years. We calculated the cost and for the first and second year it was exceeding way beyond the 20k limit(one year limit). But over a period of 5 years it was less than 99k. Keep faith everything will happen for the best. Sending you good wishes and prayers <3

Glad to hear that your mom cleared the medicals. Your post is giving a lot of hope to the people with similar situations. I am sure she must have got her PR as well.
I am filling the form under the PGP 2019 now and in a similar situation where my mom had stage 0 breast cancer an year and half back and she got treated successfully with the surgery (she did not even need any chemo). She is living a healthy life since more than an year now. What I wanted to know that whether have you checked yes to the question "had any serious disease or physical or mental disorder?" (under the IMM 5669 SCHEDULE A BACKGROUND / DECLARATION form) and mentioned the details or you selected no? Thanks in advance

Yes you should mention previous cancer. If was caught early so should not effect her application.

Hey..yes, my mom got her pr few months ago. Thanks!
And you can absolutely write a 'yes' since it asks if she had anything in the past. It will not affect her application whatsoever. Good luck!

I am going to mention her breast cancer and also going to attach the recent medical report (everything is fine) and doctor's summary with the application. I was just worried that what if CIC/Visa officer refuses her PR application just on the basis of her past illness without any further processing and without the medicals. Can this be a possibility? What if we explain her illness during the medicals and not now? You can understand my situation, though your previous reply has already took away all my worries Please reply

Other friends, any suggestion if stage 0 breast cancer will be considered as serious illness?

I think you should mention it now because if you explain at a later stage then it can be considered as misrepresentation. I know it can be a bit worrysome but this should not affect her file so it's better to state the facts at this stage.

I've just read all 17 pages of this thread. I've learnt a lot from shared experiences that has given me hope. I can't say the same of @canuck78 posts, all negative, discouraging and devoid of facts.

Telling people to be honest about their medical history is an obligation not being negative.

Also think some of the doctors assessing eligibility aren’t doing their jobs either. There are examples of people cutting their medication in half after being given a procedural fairness letter or people getting approved on a prognosis of only needing 2 years of chemo which isn’t actually predictable. Cancer patients routinely end up in hospital, need transfusions, need extra treatments., etc. Given someone is very close to the limit at 2 years not sure how any doctor can assume a cancer patient may not need extra treatment or hospitalization in year 1-2 or any treatment from year 3-5. It would be rare if a cancer patient followed their 2 year treatment plan with no scans, extra medications,no hospitalization, no excision of a port, tons of sterile material, likely g-tube and formula and hopefully excision of a g-tube. Guarantee that the mother’s treatment will exceed 100K. One medication for 2 years seems to be what was counted.

I received additional test request in February for my child who had some delay in speech. The Panel Physician assigned us to a specialist who recommended speech therapy and normal schooling, we had the additional test and the specialist's report was transmitted end of February/ first week of March. Our GCMS note just came in with the following details:

Updated date: 2019/04/01
Type: Medical
Status: In Progress
Status updated date: 2019/04/01
Due date: 2019/05/01
IME status: In Progress
IME status reason: Review Ongoing
RMO: Centralised Medical Admissibility Unit.

It shows that our file is with CMAU with May 15 due date. I expect an issue of delayed speech to be straight forward, my guess is that the file is yet to be picked up by any officer even after the due date.

Other than the agonising wait, what else can I do to move the application forward? Can I email CMAU? Can someone please provide me with their email if sending them a mail would be a good option.

Lastly, can one request/present oneself for a fresh medical test because our child has improved greatly and will pass the test now.

Just an update on my issue. I have Ankylosing spondylitis and am on Humira. My medicals have passed. I am awaiting other issues. The new cut off allow for most biologics now. So that's good for all those who have been waiting.
