Hello

Last year I had my permanent residence confirmed but due to house selling and work etc. I am only just ready to fly over now. My partner landed a couple of months ago as she had a job offer ready to start.

All I have is a confirmation of permanent residence (IMM 5688) is this all I need?

Do I need to book anything or do I just fly over and sort things when I land? (Flying into Vancouver)

I also am staying for 3 weeks, then I need to come back to the UK for probable 6-12 weeks before making a permanent move, will this cause a problem?

Is there anything I should have done? I received this letter (Permanent Residence Confirmation) last year and haven't done anything since, I have until the end of August as expiry.

Thanks for any help.

You will need either of the following, in order to get to Canada.
a) a valid PR card
b) a valid PRTD issued by your local visa office
c) to cross into Canada over the USA land border.

A visa-exempt passport will not be sufficient. You can't apply for a visa or eTA.

Hi thanks for the reply, not sure I understand.

I have my PR letter confirmation , my UK passport.

I thought I had to land in Canada with these?

Ah... You implied that you had already landed. The actual conferring of PR status happens at the "landing". "Last year I had my permanent residence confirmed"
Yes, your COPR documents are all you need, unless there is a proof of funds requirement as well.

Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks again for the reply,

my bad I should have made my post more clear.

Okay super, I'll have my COPR and passport etc and i'll take proof of funds etc incase, although it wasn't part of my application.

Do you know what will happen in terms of leaving and reentering?

Thanks again

Leaving Canada is not an issue. See my original post for the reentry. If you can physically get to Canada, your signed COPR will be sufficient to get over the border.
