Hello, I had started my PR process in Dec 2017 and received my PR as a single applicant in April 2018. Till then my marriage was fixed and I got married in May 2018. So, I informed the Visa office in June 2018 about this change in my marital status. They took my passport and canceled my single status PR. Then they asked me to submit docs and medical tests for my wife, which I promptly did. My medical tests expired in Oct 2018, so I did them again as requested by them. Now I have been waiting to hear from them since Nov 2018 and have no update on my PR application as a married person. My wife’s medicals will expire again in Aug 2018 and they will ask for updated tests, which is a significant cost. Does anyone have any idea how long it takes to get a PR in my situation? Is there a way to get an accurate update or fasten the process?

Hi, sorry about your situation! Did you try applying for GCMS notes and did you raise a webform investigating this?

You will receive a procedural fairness letter to explain the circumstances of your marriage post you receiving your visa. Canada is starting to suspect these as contract marriages to get a PR.

Haven’t received any yet. By when does this come? Do you know how long does it take from here?

What is GCMS notes?
I have raised the web form query a couple of times and got a standard answer: Application is still in process.
GCMS (Global Case Management System) is a system used by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to process applications for Citizenship and immigration. It was earlier known as Computer -Assisted Immigration Processing System (CAIPS). The GCMS notes contains the detailed records of the applicant's file, which also includes correspondence from and to IRCC, documents received from the applicant by IRCC during the filing of application process, detailed notes from the officers reviewing the file. It is the GCMS notes which provides applicant the accurate and in-depth view of the IRCC system, thus enabling the applicant to be well informed of the status, or take pro-active steps as needed.

These notes are ordered to check the status and updates on the application/ reasons for refusal etc
