HI All, currently I have a valid open work permit and I came here as a dependent to my spouse. I got a job offer here with that open work permit. Can I use that offer to get the CRS points under job offer ?

You would need your employer to obtain an LMIA to be able to use that as a valid job offer.

Thanks for the reply :) I thought LMIA is only required to recruit skilled people from outside Canada showing that the employer has made enough efforts to try and recruit the same skill inside Canada. All spousal open work permits comes under LMIA exemption C-41 as per R205: Canadian interests. Please correct me if I am wrong.

We are very familiar with open work permi rules here. It's true that your work permit is LMIA exempt.

However different rules apply when it comes to applying for PR. To count this as a job offer under Express Entry and obtain the 50 job offer points, your employer needs to obtain an approved LMIA.

Thank you for clarifying it.

HI All,
I have same situation, open work permit with a job offer from my employer. I have been working for them for more than a year. Does my employer need to get LMIA? and can I get CRS points under valid job offer?

If my spouse is studying in Ontario and I have an Open Work Permit, then am I eligible to work in "any" profession? Asking as I heard that one cannot change their profession while on Open Work Permit - so I am a bit confused here. So if I have been working as a Recruitment Officer for the last 10 years outside Canada, and then after obtaining an Open Work Permit in Canada will I be allowed to work as a Supervisor in a Courier company for example?
