Hi,

My partner (the applicant) has been recently diagnosed with cancer. We did the medical several months ago, but nothing abnormal was reported.

How do we go about this?
Should I contact directly the immigration?
Do I have to provide them with some specific documents?

My partner is currently on a temporary work visa and has access to the Canadian health care, I also have medical insurance on which my partner is one of my dependent.

Thank you for your help.

My sympathies to your partner.

Yes, you have to inform IRCC since this is a significant change in circumstances. However, there is no need to worry - it will not affect your sponsorship.

Spousal Sponsorships (including common-law) are exempt from the excessive demand provision. Your partner may need another medical test, but this is not a reason for her/him to be denied PR.

You can inform IRCC through the webform. https://secure.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/canada-case-cas-eng.aspx
