Has anyone taken citizenship and then left Canada?

Hi, I would like to know if you took the canadian citizenship and then left Canada? Why did you take the citizenship at first place? What benefits you saw?

Not my case and planning to stay here, but...

1) Possibility to go back to Canada for people and their children any day and choose where to live in the future.
2) Possibility to send their kids for studies in Canada after they grow up with no hassle.
3) Probably easier to work in some other countries as canadians. In the US for a start.
4) This may not be life changing for an american citizen, but coming from an african country, the canadian passport is really a huge deal for international travel.
5) In case shit happens outside of Canada and the other country of citizenship, always good to have the support of the Canadian Embassy.
6) Easy to maintain property or business ties in Canada even while leaving abroad.
7) Probably various other reasons...

Also, the actual answer could simply be something like : "they had the right to apply, so why not ?"

Exactly, every individual is different and the benefit for one person may be nothing to someone else ... you may ask those people who have never even set a step in Canada (and possibly won’t in the future ) but are seeking citizenship by descent when they found out their grandparents or parents were born in Canada: why do they want Canadian citizenship? The answer will for sure be different and probably make no sense to some

To add to the first post. Many people move to the Gulf (Saudi, U.A.E., Qatar, etc.) as wages for Canadians/Americans/British are way higher with better benefits. Even if they know you're originally from another country, your citizenship is how they base your pay, etc.

Yes. i think even though I won't be staying Canada I might apply for a citizenship because of the future security it gives for me and my children.
