We have not received the AOR yet. Guess we'll wait for that.

I have one other question, and sorry for asking so much. Could I go to school here before getting the PR? I read some things but it was very unclear to be honest. I'd pay for it out of my own pocket so no need for loans or anything.

If you have temporary resident status, you can go to school without a study permit while waiting for your PR. The courses you take, however, may not exceed 6 months.

Just to add to the above - it's not just the length of the courese, but also the length of the overall program. So you can take a six month course or program if it ends there. However you cannot take a series of courses that are six months or less individually but that lead to a diploma or degree that is greater than six months in length. So any college diploma or university degree is out. For that you need a study permit.

Thanks a lot for the responses. I'll have to wait then.

We've sent in the PR + OWP on may 6th but haven't received anything so far. Not even an e-mail saying they received our documents. Just curious if this is normal?

Dear all.

My visa expires in roughly 30 days, should I apply for a visa extension even though we're also in the middle of the process for the spousal sponsorship? It's kinda hard to find an answer online and the one person I know who's gone through the same process said no, but want to make sure.

Thank you in advance.

Your visitor status is expiring, not a visa. If you haven't received your OWP a few days before your visitor status is due to expire, apply for an extension online.

Dear all.

I have a question I couldn't necessarily find on here and was hoping someone could help us with. My wife gave birth to a baby boy about 3 weeks ago and we're still in the process of the sponsorship and I am still waiting on my OWP.

Now in order to get Canada child benefits they needed some extra information of us and one of these was my SIN number. Something I don't have yet. So we called service Ontario, immigration and Canada revenue to figure out what to do instead. They've been sending us to different places and the final answer was ''get a letter from service Ontario explaining why you don't have a SIN yet and we'll process the CCB and all should be good''. So we went to Service Ontario today, told them what we needed and all we got was ''We don't give out letters like this''.

My question is, has anyone been in this situation before and any idea where I do get this letter? We've asked basically everyone and every single office sends us to someone else.

Thank you for reading this and thanks for the replies.

Service Ontario has nothing to do with SINs. They are issued by Service Canada.

There is a form you have to fill out to declare your foreign income during the qualifying period so CRA can calculate the correct amount of CCB.

The only people to ask are CRA. If they aren't giving you an answer that works, you ask for a supervisor and keep asking for the next level up until you get to someone that can provide you the information that you need.
