I am no expert, but below is my analysis.

These are NOC duties
  • Prepare, key in, edit and proofread correspondence, invoices, presentations, brochures, publications, reports and related material from machine dictation and handwritten copy
  • Open and distribute incoming regular and electronic mail and other material and co-ordinate the flow of information internally and with other departments and organizations
  • Schedule and confirm appointments and meetings of employer
  • Order office supplies and maintain inventory
  • Answer telephone and electronic inquiries and relay telephone calls and messages
  • Set up and maintain manual and computerized information filing systems
  • Determine and establish office procedures
  • Greet visitors, ascertain nature of business and direct visitors to an employer or appropriate person
  • Record and prepare minutes of meetings
  • Arrange travel schedules and make reservations
  • May compile data, statistics and other information to support research activities
  • May supervise and train office staff in procedures and in use of current software.
  • May organize conferences
Out of these 13 NOC duties, the first 10 are essential duties and the one with a word "may" are non-essential duties, which are not necessary to be written.

So, to fit in the NOC, the job duties mentioned in the reference letter must substantially (70 percent)match with the duties given in NOC.

In your case, out of the first 10, if at least 7 are in your reference letter, you are good to go.

I have checked with yours, I could not find more than 5.
Maybe this is the case.
Please recheck.

Hi James,

Thank you for getting back to me.

Should the job description be word for word that is one CIC website or can I use the one that was posted during the hiring process? I am curious as tasks such as opening mail and such I do, but it was not included on the company's website during the hiring process.

Does anyone know the options for Jamaican to get a work permit aside from Express Entry PR and provincial nominee program?

No ,it should not be word to word.If all duties are word to word ,visa.officer may consider it as a drafted letter with a sole purpose of immigration and may not be satisfied that you were actually carrying out the duties.

Better to paraphrase them in your words, and make your duties understandable ,dont use much of technical terms.

Note: Out of first 10 duties in the NOC,atleast 7 must be on your letter.

You can omit the one with "may" as they are non essential one.

Ah, I see. Makes sense

Here are the list of duties for my other job. I am essentially an exam invigilator at the university but can't find any NOC that matches this category.

- Handles complex inquires from candidates, invigilators and representative from the council
- Book exam room, schedule and invigilate exams
- Follow-up with invigilators
- Mails out examination notices regarding date, time , regulations, etc
- Attend and invigilate 150 students
- Assist with the exam critiques and rechecks
- Helps student with registration and scheduling
- Delegate work to administrative staff on occasion

last question hopefully:

What are the options for a Jamaican to get a work permit aside from Express Entry PR and provincial nominee program?

Sorry,I dont have much information about work permit.

And for the Noc code ,use the search forum in this website on top.left corner amd type keyword "invigilator noc" or something else.It may help you.

Or post in other groups related to examiners.

If still cant ,last option is to opt for noc service from a website.

https://www.docveri.com/

I dnt know much ,but 2 friends of mine got PR after getting their file assessed through them prior to.submission.
Its cheap also,just 150 dollars.
