Yes i have a visa...i am going to start my classes from september at university of alberta...so is it okay right to stay first in toronto fro 10 days and then move to edmonton?

Yes, just ensure that you have booked a onwards flight to Edmonton, and if the border officer asks, mention why you are going to Edmonton on a later date.

There should not be an issue. As long as you have an onward ticket and time before your classes start, then there should not be any issue.
