I just landed as an inland permanent resident. I have been in Canada now for 3 years on a combination of work and visitor permits.
My question is, will I have to wait 3 months for MSP coverage given that I could've applied for it at any time before now?

Did you qualify or have MSP before you landed? If not yes you have to wait up to 3 months.

I've never looked in to it as I thought MSP wasn't available to non-permanent residents. I'm sure I was eligible for it, I just never applied.

I guess that probably means I have to wait.

Were you working in Canada right before you got PR? At this point yes you are likely going to wait no matter what.

Agree with mad_hatter. If you already qualified, MSP will look at the original date you would have started the waiting period, so you would get coverage right away.

Does anyone happen to know what I should put as my arrival date when applying for MSP? I arrived 3 years ago but that was as a visitor, then under a work permit, then visitor again, then another OWP until my PR on June 11

You should put the day you qualified for MSP but it should be for a time period where you continuously qualified for MSP with not breaks. Would encourage you to give further explanation about your case or apply in person. Would bring your documentation of the various permits and jobs you have had since you qualified for MSP even though you didn’t apply.
