Does anyone have any idea about how long does eTA background check take please? I am a British citizen but was born in Asia. I applied for an eTA but didn't hear anything until a week after applying when they asked for additional documents. This required filling in both IMM5257B_1 and imm5707e (family Information) forms as well as providing copy of my passport (all pages), a letter describing my travel purpose, my CV/Resume and last 10 years of my residential addresses. I do not understand why they need all this information as I applied for an eTA to go to Canada for a short holiday only. I have a very clean record and have never been involved in any criminal or unlawful activities in my entire life. It has been more than two weeks since I uploaded all the documents but the status of my application (as shown below) changed about a week ago. Can someone shed some light on this please? My holiday is booked from 10th July. What are the chances of getting the background check completed as well as having an immigration officer then making a final decision on my application before my holiday commences?

Processing times are very individual so it's difficult to say. Generally people seem to have a decision and approved eTA three weeks after submitting the additional information. However we've also seen this drag out for a couple of months. Hard to say unfortunately.
