Hey Guys,

I live in BC at the moment and it is very unlikely I will get a nomination for BCPNP. My CRS points is 415 and will be 434 when my post grad permit expires next month. If I leave Canada what options do I have in getting permanent residency? My other options would be to go for a degree in Alberta. Could I try to get Alberta Express Entry by going to school in Alberta and hopefully getting my PR that way?

You say you currently hold a PGWP, but are currently employed?
If you leave Canada, you still have a good shot at PR provided you have at least 1 year of work experience in Canada.
If not, given your CRS score, your chances of getting an ITA from outside Canada are likely to decrease.

Your other option is a bit risky. First, getting accepted in a program in Alberta (and getting a Study Permit after holding a PGWP) could be a gamble. Second, to be eligible for AINP nomination after completing a post-secondary credential of at least 1 year duration, your occupation needs to be listed on the Alberta Opportunity Stream List.
Check this link. https://www.alberta.ca/ainp-selection-criteria.aspx.
This is in addition to the tuition fees and lifestyle costs that you shall have to bear as an international student. However, you will gain at least 30 additional CRS points for Canadian education. So you will need to weigh the pros / cons and think this through.
On the other hand, I don't think Ontario has such a precondition for its graduates....so if you can afford it, you can consider taking up a 1 year Master's course in Ontario and you shall be eligible for Ontario Masters Graduate Stream.

Since you are already in BC, use every minute of your time here (until your PGWP expires) to find a job here. Contact recruiters, potential employers - do whetever is necessary...This may not pay off, but you can still give it your best shot.

Thanks for the reply. I am in a weird spot.

I work for a municipality in B.C. as an Engineering Tech. I would have two years exp this month. My visa expires in July though. I only have a diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from NAIT in Edmonton.
