Hello Experts,

I have received my PPR yesterday was trying to find all the possible Port of Entries for Canada from USA and couldn't find much information on this forum or online.
  • Could someone please help what are the possible locations I can enter Canada from USA?
  • Also, the letter says that the photographs should be taken by a Professional. Could I get that from CVS, Walgreens, Costco, Walmart, etc. or should it be something else?
  • Lastly, the BMI sheet that CIC has sent - should that be filled out by a Professional or could I do that by myself?
Thanks for all your help!

1. List with waiting time - https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/bwt-taf/menu-eng.html#_s3
2. Follow the photo instruction and get it clicked from anywhere.
3. If its only BMI sheet fill it yourself but if it is a part of the medical report (Imm5419) then take the help of a professional.

Thank you very much!

1. Can I go to CBSA anytime of the week or should that be business hours/weekdays? What do you suggest?
2. I got them in Walgreens based on some other thread in this forum. I realized that Costco doesn't do this.
3. It's just height and eye color. So, I filled myself.

Thanks again!

Different POE has different working timing, i would suggest you to check the working timing on CBSA website.
As per my suggestion visit on Weekday and before 5 P.M, that is the time when CBSA officer are in working mode and not irritated. (human physiology).

Thank you! Lastly, what should I be carrying when visiting CBSA for soft landing? I am expecting my passport to be returned with visa next week. So, I wanted to cross the border the week after that.
Passport with Visa, CoPR (you will get this with the passport) is the bare minimum.
Proof of settlement funds is also technically required, but rarely asked.
In addition, you should prepare a list of all your belongings into two separate lists. One list for belongings that you are carrying with you at the time of landing (those that will remain in Canada) and second list for belongings that will follow later. List out electronics (TV, computers etc.) separately with serial numbers. Vehicles with VIN number. Jewellery with photographs. The rest can be grouped in broad categories like clothes, books, furniture etc.

Thank you! A couple of questions here:

1. On the Port of Entry page, it says there are only 5 options if traveling via Land. But your earlier link says, there are a lot of options. So, I am confused. Can I still use any of them on CBSA website or would that be only the 5 options on your blog?
2. As far as the documents are concerned, how should I be showing Proof of Funds? Current bank statement or a letter from Bank? What if I have 10K CAD together in multiple bank accounts?
3. Also regarding the documents, would the passport size photos again be of the same dimension (70x50) that I've sent to get my Visa?

Thank you! What if I don't mention certain electronics in the list and take it when I move permanently?

1. In the blog it is not possible to mention all the POE, so just gave a few examples, you can refer to the list I shared from the CBSA website.
2. POF is generally not asked, but you should have the bank statements with you. 10K CAD can be in 10 different banks, as far as you are able to show them that you have that money and access to it, you need not worry.
3. Yes, the passport photo should be of the same dimension of the one you received during your PPR email, again these days they are not asking for the photo, but you should carry 1.

Sounds good! Probably, a couple of last questions:
  1. For the goods document that are with me and that are being brought later, should the value of them be mentioned when they were purchased or the current value? For example, the car value has depreciated now and so with some of the electronics.
  2. What questions could be expected at CBSA when I cross the border? Is there a list of questions that you can suggest?
  3. I'm planning to drive my car to CBSA instead of getting a rental car. What do you recommend?
Thanks!

1. You need to write the current value of a new product. Approx value.
2. No specific questions they are going to ask, general questions, just the review of your documents. A couple of signs and you are good.
3. Yes, you can bring your own car not an issue.

Thank you very much! I was just reading in the forum that one cannot show CD/FDs as POF. I was thinking of showing a partial amount in CDs. Wouldn't that be acceptable for soft landing?
