I think the IRCC phone line has blacklisted me haha. With patience I used to be able to get through... now, no matter what time of day I try calling, I can’t get to the “speak to an agent” option, even to wait on hold or get a callback. They just tell me to hang up...

BGC not started.
They probably did, if you keep calling them constantly they block your number, that's what CRA does too
It's not a good thing to call them too much...they'll get annoyed and they'd leave a note on your file

I’ve only called twice ever — never gotten through since the second time. If my file would move even a little I’d be more inclined not to bother them. Even just a scrap of an update... sigh

I understand your frustration, but I'm just giving you an advice, I really hope you hear any good news soon

I doubt that they can block your number... that doesn’t sound right at all. And then you could just call from a different number.

No the reality is that it is painfully hard to get a hold of someone and you have to go through all the prompts before finding out that they won’t connect you! Took me 3 times today.

Good news is, they have a call back feature now so you don’t have to wait for 30 minutes on hold lol.

So my GCKEY hasn’t changed since AIP and I asked the agent today who was really nice and provided me more info. She said that everything looks completed despite my GCKEY not being updated and it is just waiting for the final decision at this point. In other word, the immigration officer to click on a button... I hope this happens soon :)

I also asked her about the whole Montreal thing and she told me that she could see my app was in Montreal for a while but only for the SA step and it was transferred right after. She said it didn’t stay long in Montreal.

Anyway, 2 more month before the 12 month mark and I told her I wouldn’t mind if it would not take the whole 2 month to get a decision. This process is psychologically draining and I feel for the June applicants too, I hope we all get to the finish line in June and I wish you all a great weekend!

June is summer, and it’s going to be filler with good news for us!!

Final update from me, I hope you all have some good news soon too!

Hi guys, I just checked on ECAS and it says, under "Permanent Residence Application Status" there's an underlined "Decision Made" what does it mean?
If it’s on the principal applicant side That means you are good to go! Next step is the landing interview to get your PR status.

Is it possible for them to have started our background check and it not have been notated on the GC Key?

Yes it is possible. I would try to call CIC if I were you and ask them specifically about background check status. You may have a nice agent who will tell you more info on the phone hopefully.
The agent I spoke with said that they try to update ECAS/GCKEY every 24h but it sometimes doesn’t work.

:D Amazing!! Congrats! Things are moving for the August pile!!!

Anyone else still stuck with "We will let you know when background check begins." ?

No. They completed my processing on the 24th May. My status now reads complete on CIC. Thanks. I appreciate the therapeutic nature of this platform.
Gosh. That's so nice to hear. Wish mine was the same. How long did it take them to complete your BG check?
