Hi All!
I’m officially landed as PR. Thank you everyone for sharing your thoughts and personal experiences, very helpful!
I live inVancouver but landed in Fredericton, Yes! In Fredericton! My wife and myself were there over the weekend for a professional conference, I was a speaker. We both in the same profession so, it works out well for us. Every time we travel my wife always brings our travel documents even within Canada. This time she brought our passports, my work permit and documents relating to immigration. I checked my email Sunday night at the business centre at the hotel where we we’re staying. I got an email from IRCC. My wife read the email and realized that maybe we could do it in Fredericton, anyway she is a Canadian Citizen therefore my sponsor. She convinced me to go to the IRCC in Fredericton. Yesterday Monday May 27, 2019 we went there without appointment. There was a phone outside the office, my wife lifted it up and spoke to a real person. She asked my wife if we have an appointment, my wife said we didn’t. She told my wife to book it in the nxt 2 weeks, my wife said no, we didn’t have time because we are flying back to Vancouver in the evening. She asked for what purpose why we are there, my wife said we wanted to confirm my PR application status, so she instructed my wife to wait in the waiting area and someone will be with us shortly. There were few people in the room waiting for there names to be called, turned out they were one family so it didn’t take long for us to wait for turn. It was our time to get in a small office, my wife took out our documents, she showed the landing letter, the immigration officer asked our passports, driver’s license, asked me 4 common questions: have you been convicted, have you been denied entry to Canada, when was your first entry to Canada, last entry to Canada. She printed something, came back and explained to my wife about sponsorship etc... That paper was the COPR! Yehey!!! We were told my PR card will come in the mail in 2 weeks time. Did not expect to land in Fredericton! Then, she asked 2 passport photos which I didn’t have, so she gave us the names of places to get passport photos. We came back and handed them to her. We went to service Canada for my new SIN. My and I had yummy pizza as a reward for ourselves, she had lobsters too! I had a beer , was so.... good! Hope my journey will give hope to those who are still waiting. Indeed, there is a light at the end of the tunnel, although I felt my tunnel was a bit longer. Wish you all the best.
