Right time to apply for visitor visa extension

Hi.
Question: While in Canada, at the time of applying visitor visa extension (visitor record), is it necessary that Visitor Visa has to be valid (NOT expired)?

Background:
My mom is currently in Canada in visitor visa. Entry: Feb 04th 2019. Exit by date on her passport is stamped as August 04th 2019

Her Visitor Visa expires on May 19th 2019 though.

When should/can I apply for visitor extention (visitor record)? Before May 19th 2019 or 30-45 days before her visitor status expires. (which is around June 20th to July 3rd 2019) ??

A visa is not tied to her presence or length of stay in Canada but only admission, provided her passport does not expire anytime soon.

So, she does not require extension as she can legally stay until the stamped date - Aug 4th 2019.
If she intends to extend her stay after 6 months (after 4th Aug 2019), then she would need to apply for extension.

I just confirmed, she can stay until, Aug 04 2019. If she intends to live beyond Aug 04 2019 that you need to apply extension.

She can't live in Canada but if she wants to try and extend her visitor status she should apply a month before her current status expires. Her application will be approved or denied at that point.

I have query regarding the processing times for extension. I have applied for my mum's visitor visa extension online on Aug 13th 2019. Her status expires on Oct 7 2019. I just want the extension for 1 month till Nov 8th 2019. Can I expect a decision before Oct 7 2019? Also suppose the decision is not made by Oct 7 2019 then can she stay in Canada until the decision is made on her online application?
