hi guys,I submitted a study permit application recently and when I was filling the imm5484 (Family Information Form),I checked the box which states that my family wouldn’t accompany me to Canada. However,my father would like to accompany me to Canada after much contemplation.
Can he submit a visitor visa application even though I stated none of my family member is accompanying me to Canada? Would this small change result in refusal?
Please help.
Thanks in advance.

since they are not accompanying you in your study permit applicant so it is correct. If your application is approved then they can apply separately once you land in Canada.

He can apply for a tourist visa. He will need a strong reason to travel to Canada - caring for a student is not a strong reason.

But is it okay for him to accompany me to Canada? Because I told cic in my study permit application that my parents are not accompanying me to Canada:oops:

yeah, i think they refer as if a partner (wife or husband) or kids will be acompanying you to Canada.
Parents can enter with their visitor visa or ETA

He can visit but he cannot stay. If he is given a tourist visa he can visit, and if admitted to Canada, could stay up for six months depending on the stamp in the passport.

Thanks a lot people!!
You're going to need a strong purpose of visit for your father. If he applies for a tourist visa with a purpose of taking care of you, he will likely be rejected.

You could try to send a webform and tell IRCC you'd like to change him to accompanying you, but I don't know. If he's not dependent on you, I'm not sure if he can accompany.
