How to apply for new TRV on renewed passport

Hi,

On Jan-7 my daughters passport got expired and I renewed it thru BLS service. A week later I got the new passport and now I wanted to apply for new TRV on the new passport since the one on the old passport got expired. Can someone suggest how to obtain the TRV within Canada. If this is not possible what is the process to get it from India as we are planning to travel on July 3rd.

Also in a conversation with an IRCC support center agent, it is stated that the validity of a temporary resident status cannot exceed the validity of the passport. But in my child's case this is not true. The validity on her visitor record is 2020/9/30.
Does this impacts the stay and should this be corrected? If yes, can someone suggest how to fix it.

Thanks,
Manas

Is her visitor record a one-time entry document or a multi-entry document? I think a visitor record is one-time entry only.

If it is multiple entry, then you can keep her old passport and the visitor record in it and get a new passport and enter Canada with both passports. The validity of the multi-entry visitor record continues, you just need both passports. Do not apply for a new visa unless it is a single-entry document.

When the visitor record expires, you will need to apply for a new visa, though I imagine you are likely applying for PR.

However, if the TRV itself is expired, you need to apply for a new one - which you do so by just applying for a TRV.

After multiple tries I am able to speak with an IRCC service agent and here is what they say, A visitor record would usually have a valid date that is less than the passport exp date but in my case it seems to be a mistake made by BSO officer and it is advised to correct it by applying for an extension. All this makes me nervous for my upcoming travel to India. With-out sorting this out now would it be safe to leave the country?

That's why I asked if it was multiple-entry or not. A visitor record is not usually made made for longer than the life of the passport.

Unless you have another way to get your daughter back to Canada in case the visitor record is invalid, I'd be looking at re-arranging travel.

okay. Well this isn't came into light until now and I still believe the date on visitor record is given valid since both parents are given a validity till 2020/9/30. Do you think, contacting a BSO officer at Edmonton International airport would clear all my doubts?
