I applied for a Canadian student visa but it came after seven months but I already applied to study in the uk after I realized the Canadian visa was taking too long. Now my question is since my student visa is still valid, can I go to can for like a week or 2 even though I’m not a student ?

To answer shortly … no! When you will get to the airport in Canada, you will be denied entry and possibly get banned for entry for 5 years. You want to enter as a tourist but trying to use a study permit which has not been issued to you yet ( it is being done upon entering Canada, if you satisfy the immigration officer's requests).

Provided you have sufficient proof of finances, a return ticket and proof of ties in the UK, you should be fine to enter. Explain to the officer that you are now studying in the UK and ask to enter as a visitor.

Unlikely OP will be refused entry and there will not be a ban. OP has a TRV and would be requesting entry as a visitor, not trying to enter using a study permit.

depending from which country he is, he might need to apply for a visa prior to arrival in Canada though.

He said he already has a valid TRV. He simply has to make sure he asks to enter a visitor and not as a student. If CBSA is convinced that he is a visitor (hence the finances, ticket, and ties that canuck_in_uk mentioned), they will let him in as a visitor. He obviously won't get a study permit.
