It takes a lot of issues not to pass this thing. They allow until an average of 20 000$/year of medical cost to system for a period of 5 years so like 100 000$ unless you have really dangerous diseases like tuberculose or something, so basically its rare that ppl gets denied out of medical demands. They evaluate a std canadian up to 6000$/year costing to system and IRCC accepts til around x 3 so. Could be longer when your diagnostic contains some elements but i guess is just to let them do their calculation. Under the terms of the public policy, the average Canadian per capita health and social services cost is $6,839, and 3 times that average is $20,517.

I was just wondering how we know the biometric has been passed and received by the Government. I can see on the Online check your application tool it says "Medical has been received" but does biometric also show up there? It's been 8 days since Biometric was given in India.

My ECAS shows the following.

Permanent Residence
  1. We received xxxxxxxxx's application for permanent residence on February 15, 2019.
  2. We sent xxxxxxxxxx correspondence on March 24, 2019. If xxxxxxxxx has not yet provided the information or the requested documents, please have xxxxxxxxx do so as soon as possible. Please wait until xxxxxxxxxxxx receives the correspondence before sending us additional information, as the correspondence will outline all information that is required.
  3. We sent xxxxxxxxxx medical instructions on March 26, 2019. To avoid delays, please provide us with the information requested as soon as possible. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.
  4. Medical results have been received.

You won't see the biometric being received/passed in eCAS; it only shows up in GCKey (aka myCIC).

Thank you for the info. Is that the only way to see if it has been received because unfortunately, I can't make a GCKey account due to my spouse giving her authorization for me to be her representative. The only way I can make a GCKey account is to cancel that representation and that's apparently a hassle that could delay things.

But since it's been 8 days is it safe to assume it's been finished, because the Medical has been completed.

I've never called in to IRCC's hotline to listen to automated updates, but maybe someone else can say whether it gives you updates from the GCKey side or the eCAS one.

But I don't actually understand your issue with GCKey. If she has made you your representative, by definition you should be able to link her application to your account, as that's what representatives are enabled to do. And even if you hadn't been made her representative, you would be able to do it as the sponsor. Something does not compute -- do you mean she gave authorization for someone else to be her representative?

Unfortunately, the CIC is kind of weird on this issue. They state clearly

"Unpaid representatives cannot use online accounts. If you have an unpaid representative, you should remind them to regularly monitor their e-mail and mail to ensure correspondence is received."

If I had known that GCkey was more informative I wouldn't have become her representative, but it seems like there's no way to use the online services of GCkey.

Huh, weird. And is this a wall you've run up against because you tried to link it and it wouldn't let you, or have you not even tried? I really wonder about this, as there're plenty of people around here who have their sponsor as their representative and I've never heard anyone mention this was a problem for them. To me this sounds like it's meant to guard against representatives who aren't registered immigration consultants, but it shouldn't apply when it is the sponsor themselves who is linking it (I'm the sponsor and I linked the PA's application to my account, though admittedly I'm not his rep). If there really is no way around this, then I agree, IRCC needs to change this ASAP!

That's really strange.
I'm sponsor and unpaid representative of my husband. I linked his application to my CIC account (GCkey). Now I receive all updates by email and can see all status changes + issued docs there.

Thanks, I'll have a look. This whole time I thought it was because of the CIC rules stating that unpaid representatives can't have online access.
