Visitor Record Expiring

My visitor record is about to expire. I applied for the extension almost two months ago as well as an open work permit but neither have decisions yet. In the long run I am applying for spousal sponsorship. In the event that my visitor record expires before a decision is made on either the work permit or the visitor extension and I leave Canada, how soon am I able to return? I would be leaving and therefore returning by flight. When I come back do I say I am returning to wait for decisions on the spousal sponsorship application with my husband, who resides in Canada as a citizen?

Have you actually applied for PR yet?

You will have Implied Status while waiting on a decision.

We sent the application for PR in but it has only been about a week. When I entered Canada with my husband I was planning on only staying 2 months and going back to finish a few things at my home in America so at the border they gave me a visitor record for two months After an appointment with a consultant we were told it was better to not leave while waiting on the application so I then had to apply for an extension on my visitor record. Does the implied status from waiting on the PR override the visitor record I initially came in with?

Applying for PR does not grant any form of status. Implied Status is only given when applying to extend temporary residency, i.e. visitor, student, worker.

You will have Implied from the extension app and the OWP app.

So the visitor record I was given when I first entered the country is now voided and I'd only have to leave if the OWP or extension applications are denied?

It isn't void. Either it has expired or it is still valid.
