Will my Student Finance debt impact my chances of immigrating into Canada?

I am a graduated Bcs Computer Science student who is currently looking to go on a Post-Grad course to learn to be a teacher. I'm doing this in hopes of acquiring my teaching qualification which may help with my express or skilled entry application when the time comes to apply to come over to Canada.

I'm worried however that if I do go on this post-grad teacher training course the additional £9,000 debt that gets added to my current student debt will raise potential alarms when it comes to immigrating to Canada.

I've checked with the UK Student Finance and they offer debtors the ability to pay off their student finance debt while living and working abroad. But my main concern is will my debt (especially if more is being added to it considering I'm doing a teacher training course) prevent me from coming to Canada?

I mean I have every intention of working it off while I work and live over here, but I'm not sure what the conditions are in regards to accepting ex-students who have student debt on them.

Your ability to finance your tuition and living expenses will factor into the decision. Are you able to show 25K? You may want to look into the availability of teaching jobs in Canada? In many provinces unless you are a French teacher it can be very tough to get a job. I also know that teacher’s college is a very busy program so working 20 hours a week will be difficult. I wouldn’t plan on being able to work throughout your schooling. During placements you are basically working full-time.

Sorry I think I didn't properly reflect the circumstances.

I am training to be a teacher here in the UK. I'm being given a £28k scholarship for my training and I plan to apply for my immigration once I finish the training. I checked on the Ontario College of Teachers and it says the degree is transferable for a Canadian teacher qualification.

My main concern is just bringing that external debt over with me. I would only be paying off the debt in taxable percentages for each paycheck from my work and even then that's only if I'm earning above a certain amount of money.

Being able to pay it off shouldn't be an issue. It's just bring it over to Canada with me that i'm worried about. Will it impact my immigration process specifically knowing I have student debt to pay off.

If you are planning on teaching in Ontario you should see the recent news about huge lay-offs due to change in government. You may be unlikely to get a teaching job for many years. Do you have savings as well to qualify for EE? What is your CRS score? Student loans will not prevent getting PR but they will examine the whole application. Surprised such a large scholarship doesn’t require you to actually teach in the UK for a few years?
