Please guide do I need to provide both salary certificate and reference letter from my current employer? Are both these documents different , as my consultant is saying I have to produce salary certificate from my current employer and there is no substitute for this letter .

As per my understanding I can ask one of my colleague to write this letter for me and get it notarised , however that will work only as reference letter and salary certificate from HR of current employer is still needed.

Please guide.

Does your reference include all the information required by IRCC?
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/permanent-residence/express-entry/applications-received-on-after-january-1-2016-completeness-check.html

Check the Express Entry completeness checklist on the link above. Work experience letters (for the experience claimed) need to include the below listed content:

"The following documents are mandatory for each work experience declared:
a reference or experience letter from the employer, which

  • should be an official document printed on company letterhead (must include the applicant’s name, the company’s contact information [address, telephone number and email address], and the name, title and signature of the immediate supervisor or personnel officer at the company),
  • should indicate all positions held while employed at the company and must include the following details: job title, duties and responsibilities, job status (if current job), dates worked for the company, number of work hours per week and annual salary plus benefits;..."
If you have all of the above included in your reference letter, then you do not need a salary certificate. The Agent/ Officer needs to be convinced that you were remunerated for your work. You could prove this by including copies of your payslips or if you file your taxes, you could include your Form 16 and/or your tax returns.

I have been employed for a year an a half now and have over a years worth of skilled experience. However, initially my first 4 months of employment at the company was unskilled. Do I still need to include this job title? and is it best to have two separate reference letters for both job titles or have one reference letter outlining my employment history at the company?
