Moving to Canada before having heard back...

I have previously lived in Canada and had a two year work visa. I met my boyfriend there and when my visa expired he decided to move home with me to the UK while we filed for sponsorship. We've completed all of the paperwork and sent it off but were wondering if anyone knew what the guidelines were on us going back to Canada before getting a conclusion on our applicaiton. We are confident that we will be granted sponsorship as a lot of work (as well as lots of blood, sweat and tears) went into our application and we have provided SO MUCH evidence to supprot our relationship and applicaiton, although nothing is ever certain, of course.

Processing times say up to 12 months and that would take us up to March 2020 but we were planning on moving back to Canada in January 2020 to continue our lives. What are people's experiences? How long did it take for your application to come back? I am fully aware that if we were to return before our application being approved that I couldn't work etc.

Any information is helpful!

Thank you :):)

How long it takes these days is going to be HIGHLY dependent on which VO you end up being forwarded to. If it's London, it will definitely take longer than if you get selected to be transferred to Mississauga instead. Count on it taking a full 12 months, but if you end up at Mississauga it will likely be far faster.

As for guidelines on arriving before the application is complete, I suggest you search this forum for "dual intent" and you'll find lots of information relevant to your situation.

See here as regards landing under dual intent. Of course the PA would be a 'visitor' and as such would not be able to work in Canada until their sponsorship has been approved and they have 'landed' and activated the CoPR (and gone to Services Canada and got a permanent SIN):

If you want to be added to this tracking spreadsheet so your timeline will help others, just make a posting and updates on this thread with your details on this thread:

https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/thread-for-outland-london-uk-applications.49436/page-1558

As regards overall timescales, please see the spreadsheet link in my signature line below for some real world timelines. As the previous reply said, after sponsor assessment in Sydney NS, they will send your application to either London England or Mississauga (you have no input or control over where they send it BTW). If London, yes, expect the full 12 months start to finish, if Mississauga, more line 4 / 5 months overall from receipt in Sydney to issue of CoPR.

Be aware that there have been a couple of times lately where people who are doing what you propose have run into issues with CIC asking them to prove intent to return to Canada when they're already in Canada. It's Kafka-esque, but I would be proactive and work on communicating with CIC when you arrive to let them know you've moved.
