Eta is related to the Visitor Visa?

Hello everyone.

I applied for the visitor visa 3 weeks ago. Today I applied for ETA and did not receive a confirmation email. After a few hours I received an email asking to send the passport to the consulate, but this is the regular visa. Can I still receive ETA? Or because I applied for the normal visa they will not process my application for ETA? Or wait for the normal visa process to end?

1. If you require a TRV to enter Canada, then you are not eligible for an ETA. So it would appear the email was for your TRV.

Yes , the e-mail was for my TRV. But i cant find anywhere in their website about that. When i applied for de eta, they ask If have a TRV processing number, i put It. If in that Case i m not eligible, shouldt the site blocked my aplication?

I´m Brazilian. My wife and father received their ETA in minutes. Btw, i got my EUA VISA today, and applied for the eta.
I have a flying ticket for next friday, dont know if is faster to give my passport and hope it returns next week. Or i can wait for the ETA, but this could take some time. I´m afraid that if i give my passport, they hold it for too long and if my ETA is approved, i won't be able to travel.

I couldnt applied for ETA becouse i didnt have the EUA VISA, this is requirement for brazilians. I applied for both visas at the same time. If the canadian was faster, great. But if the EUA VISA was faster, i could try the ETA. And got the EUA VISA first.

By EUA Visa do you mean a US Visa?

If yes, and if you've got the US visa, then you are now eligible for an ETA. However, since you applied for a Canadian Visa already, I'm not sure what happens, sorry.

This is a bit of an edge case and your best bet is to email / call the consulate and ask. You're definitely eligible for an ETA if you have a US Visa.

If yes, and if you've got the US visa, then you are now eligible for an ETA. However, since you applied for a Canadian Visa already, I'm not sure what happens, sorry.

Sry, is US visa. I called them today, they can´t say how long they hold the passaport and that they dont have any info about ETA.

eTA approvals usually come in a few minutes after applying.

The fact that you had already applied for a TRV.... now an eTA might cause some confusion. You will NOT be issued both i.e. a TRV and an eTA. It is one or the other.

It's never a good idea to book tickets before visas are issued. There are no guarantees.

You should email the Sao Paulo visa office to reconfirm about your eTA and TRV applications + submit your passport to the nearest VAC.... with a letter requesting for expedited visa stamping. Do include your plane tickets with the request. Visa offices have stamped visas in just a couple of days in such cases. Again, not assured but worth requesting

I only booked becouse the tickets were very cheap and the cancelation fee is only 5% and there is no cancelation fee for my AirBnB.

When i was entering the VAC, i received an email saying that my ETA was approved. I ll fly next week with my eTA and when i come back, i ll give the passport for TRV.

Already paid 180cad, And eta is only valid by Air. My son lives in Toronto now, so i ll be going alot there. Would be nice to visit USA by car.
