Thanks a lot I will upload rather than running around BLS for a second time.
Looks like GoI MHA has made several updates to online application portal ( I say this in comparison to the sample filled out application form on BLS website)

1. Marriage Certificate
As per the updated application portal, when you select marriage certificate to upload, it specifically tells you that MC is required ONLY for OCI application based on Spouse OCI... Im not sure if this was always the case but its pretty clear now. no more required for fresh application for husband and wife

2. Another interesting update , after Part A is filled, it no more asks you whether you want to apply for another family member. It goes straight to Part B.
For next family member, you start a fresh application from the start. So looks like husband and wife are being treated as independent applications with no link between the two. Again Im not sure if this was always the case but this is a welcome update. No more link between husband/wife application means there's no need for them to see a MC.

3. Lastly after submitting online application, it generates a pdf with the filled out application form. This now has your photo on it!! Does it mean you don't have to affix the photo??

4. In same PDF after the application form, there are some final instructions. Here again MC is mentioned only for Spouse OCI based OCI application not for standard application

Im not sure how much of these updates were already there. Above assessment is based on comparing with the sample filled out form on BLS website. Recent applicants may please advise.

PS - you can check out these "updates" by quickly filling out the form using some dummy info. You can at the least reach as far as uploading of MC to see the portal tell you when MC is actually needed.I also looked at FAQs and OCI brochure on MHA website and there as well you dont find MC requirement for fresh application for husband and wife.

I am also in the same boat.

Do we need to attach photo in the pdf application form? how about thumb impression for minor (new born)?

Hi All,

What will be the process for applying OCI for a baby born in Canada to Indian Citizen parents?

Both parents are in Canada on a visitor's visa. (Hence not Landed Immigrants). Baby was born in Canada recently.
Baby has received Canadian Citizenship certificate and Canadian passport.

I would really appreciate if someone could explain the process step by step.

I read the online instructions and they seemed very confusing.

Thanks in advance!

I submitted the Application on Nov 29, 2018. The online status shows documents processed and dispatched from New Delhi on Dec 24. It is not showing any date for Documents received in Vancouver yet.
Hoping to get it back before January 20, as I have to travel on that date and I do not want to waste money on Indian Visa application.

One strange fact about my application submission at BLS office in Edmonton: The online document requirements asks for original landing documents of spouse and applicant and original document for the Marriage certificate to be submitted with the application. However, when I went there, they did not want these original documents. They were ok with a photocopy. Had I know this, I could have saved so much time, as I had spent lot of time and money in getting these original documents couriered to me.
So I will suggest going to office and not relying on online info. BLS Offices are like small kingdoms and the officer in the office is the King :).
I like the last line. In my case for my daughter's oci at brampton they made me run pillar to post. For myself and spouse at Toronto-Lawrence avenue, it was a walk in the park, my wife missed a signature, but the officer was cool with it. First time in 1 visit i came out with a receipt. Kingdoms. Cant agree more!

Hi,
Thanks of replying.

However, Me and my wife do not have any landing papers as we are in Canada on a visitor's visa.

So I am not sure what documents can I give in lieu of the landing papers.

Hi All,
I have recently received invitation to appear for Citizenship Test on March 11, 2019 at Mississauga office.
I have following question regarding the "Prohibitions Form"
On which date can I sign it?

a. Date of Test (i.e. March 11, 2019).
b. A day before ((i.e. March 11, 2019).
c. Any date before March 11.
I would really appreciate if someone clarify my query.
Thanks in advance!
Have a nice day!
Hi All,
I am an engineer employed with a reputed multinational company in Canada. I moved to Canada as a permanent resident in 2014.
A lot of my relatives/cousins think that obtaining work permit in Canada is a piece of cake. I get their phone calls so very often & they keep mentioning this. Some of them are planning to arrive in Canada on a visitor's visa then apply for work permit as soon as they land.
Is it really that easy to obtain work permit? I would really appreciate if someone could please shed some light on this matter.
Thanks
Could u kindly read your posted matter which I have quoted and highlighted and try to figure out whether u are a visitor and if YES then could you explain what is the procedure for visitors to get Citizenship?

Haha!

Don't stress too much buddy! Realx!
I am a Permanent Resident almost through the process to obtain citizenship.

The visitor questions, I asked on behalf of a cousin who is not proficient in English.

I hope this explains.
Cheers!

as per oci document checklist it requires copr or if it is lost any other document which shows immigration category, does any one know whats the best document to use if copr is lost which shows immigration category? other than verification of status document?

The Indian Consulate needs to check under what category the person has immigrated to Canada. Its mentioned along side No 19 on the COPR. There is no other doc showing this info as per my knowledge.
In case, original landing paper is not available / lost, a ‘Status of Verification’ document from CIC, clearly reflecting the immigration category can be submitted.
I would suggest that you visit your nearest BLS center and check with the staff whether any affidavit will suffice since most of the staff are very picky.

Apply for OCI outside Canada
After being a Canadian citizen, is it possible to apply for OCI from outside Canada? If you get an opportunity to work in another country , on a temporary work permit, can you apply for OCI (India) from that country? Or do you need to return to Canada, and apply for OCI from there.
