Family ties?

I was just notified that my visa application was refused because of the following reasons:

" I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as a temporary
resident, as stipulated in paragraph 179(b) of the IRPR, based on your family ties in Canada and
in your country of residence.
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as a temporary
resident, as stipulated in paragraph 179(b) of the IRPR, based on the purpose of your visit"

Certainly I have some relatives in Canada (aunts and cousins) but I not even planning to visit them in my trip, because they live in Edmonton, and I can't go there because I will stay just 18 days in Canada and I need to use my time to visit another places in the west and the east of the country. That's why I didn't mentioned them in my application.

I want to know what documents are required to reapply and be clear about I'm not planning to visit my family.

Thank you for your attention and answers

It doesn't matter if you're not planning to visit them - the visa officer will have seen family in Canada and would assume that you could live with them. Even if you said you did not plan to visit them, the visa officer will always consider them.

What did you propose as your purpose of visit? Visiting "the west and the east" is a lot for 18 days; even if you fly between Vancouver and Halifax you lose a day to travel.

Thanks for your answer.

I was planning to get to Calgary and rent a car there to travel 6 days, with my wife, my daughter and a couple of friends and his son to Vancouver and visit some parks in the way, stay three more days in Vancouver an then fly to Quebec (staying 3 days there). From Quebec we were planning to go by bus to Ottawa and Montreal, ending our trip in Toronto (having 5 days for those three cities).

I know Canada is a huge country, but some friends already have done the same itinerary before.

Please tell me if is there any chance to reapply for a visa or if it is useless try it again because of my relatives living in Canada.

Thank you

So you applied for a visa for you, your wife, and your daughter, and have family in Canada?

The itinerary isn't the problem. It will look to the visa officer that you are trying to bring your entire family to Canada and will overstay. You will need to provide significant proof of ties to your home country in order to overcome objections. If your wife and daughter were not travelling with you, those would be significant ties.

All my properties are in Colombia, I have a job in one of the biggest companies in the country, my wife works in the first bank of Colombia.... I think those are enough strong ties with my country. I can't understand the visa officer decision but it's ok, that's it.

Thank you for your attention

Colombia is unfortunately part of the world from which a lot of refugees come. Jobs can be adandoned. Fixed properties and families are harder to abandon, which is why they are considered proof of ties to home country.

When you apply for a visa for your whole family the visa officer has to evaluate whether or not you're likely to overstay. Taking the whole family is something other people who have overstayed do I'm not saying you will, but it's what others do. If you don't have a history of travel to the US or Europe, your chances are decreased if you bring the whole family with you and nothing to return to.

Actually we have been twice in The US for tourism and once in Europe. It seems that the visa officer didn't take this travel record as a criteria in the decision. But I understand the reasons you have. We'll must found another destination for our vacation. May be further there will be another chance to visit Canada.

Thanks a lot

If you want to learn more, you can request your ECAS notes via ATIP. It may at least inform you as to why the visa officer declined your visa.

I have a last question: If I reapply for the visa without my daughter, I meant just with my wife, do you think it's going to be better chances to be accepted to travel to Canada for vacation?

Given your crazy itinerary it makes less sense that you wouldn't go to Edmonton. Are you Colombian or just living in Colombia. Did your whole family travel to the US and Europe? Were the tips for vacation or business? Yes travelling without your daughter would be helpful.

I'm colombian.

I have traveled to the US and Europe with my wife, those trips were for vacation only. In the last four years we didn't travel abroad because my daughter was too young, the travel we were planning to Canada would be the first international travel for her, but if it's easier to get the visa without her we can consider to not take her with us.

What do you suggest to reapply for a visitor's visa just for me and my wife?

Thank you

The travel isn't very recent so that is one of the issues. Yes your chances are better without your daughter but there are never any guarantees.

You may want to try going to some other country for vacation first. Build up a history that shows you've been - with your wife and daughter - to Europe, the US, or Australia (since you had a US visa, maybe that will be easier to get) and then apply to Canada again. That will show that you have no intention of overstaying in Canada.

What documents did you submit for these properties, your employment, financial situation, dependent family members, etc?

It's not a great idea to travel to other countries before reapplying for Canada. IRCC does not work like that.... and apart from spending a little fortune on insignificant travel, it would be obvious to IRCC that travel to other countries was done with the intention of getting TRV approvals.

If someone (not saying you) wants to breach visa conditions, s/he will do it regardless of the travel to other countries

I didn't mean travel right now and immediately reapply.. I meant, build up a travel history over a few years.
