Hi Guys,

I received eAOR on 19 sep 2018 followed by clearance of medical exam on 16 oct 2018. Since then there has been no status update/ email/ communication from IRCC and very soon it will be 7 months. Have already applied for GCMS notes. Wanted to check if there is anything else I can do to track my EE application? This is the status of my application:

Eligibility: Being reviewed
Medicals: Passed
Background check: we will let you know when we start your background check

Contacted IRCC using the web form and received a very generic response similar to everyone else. I doubt even if my file has been touched since medical which was 6 months back. Thinking about calling CIC soon to speak with the agent and get clarity. Any suggestions or inputs by anyone?

Thanks!
By all means call a CIC Agent. They are far more specific than the generic mail you get by raising a webform. But make sure you are specific in your query: tell them that it has been 7 months already, and you want to know what is the status of the Eligibility and Background Check. In my case, they were always polite and forthcoming with specific information.

Difficult to understand how so many applications from Sept are stuck in the supposed 20% even when agents say everything looks good and eligibility status is met.

To those who got "Ready to Visa"mail.

First of all, many congrats!

Is there specific time when they sent you mails?
For example, during the working hour or during the night and so on, in Canada time.
Can you advise?

Hi, for me i got the email around 10 pm Canada time.

better to call cic and specifically ask about eligibility, criminality and security. also inquire about visa office processing your case and target completion date.

CIC agents would never comment on target completion date if your file has already passed 6 months. Did they tell you in your case?

I have got my PPR and I have two questions and will appreciate your inputs

1) If I am planning to go to Canada and come back, how many days will I need to plan to stay in Canada for getting the PR card.

2) For holding on to the PR are there any requirements in terms of the number of days I need to stay in Canada for the first year?

thanks

Congrats on your PPR

1. As per other threads on this forum - and the CIC website (https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/check-processing-times.html) - PR card processing takes on average 43 days

2. Your PR is valid for 5 years. You need to live inside Canada for at least 2 out of the 5 years to keep your PR status.
As per the CIC website: "To keep your permanent resident status, you must have been in Canada for at least 730 days during the last five years. These 730 days don’t need to be continuous."
So there are no restrictions regarding your 1st year as PR or any other year, as long as you are present in Canada for 2 out of 5 years.

Thank you this helps. I have a further question when does the 43 day cycle start? Will I have to go to Canada to start the PR card process or can I do it from here. I am assuming that once I go there I cannot leave the country as the visa I am going to get now will be only for 1 time entry.

Your 43 days will start after you land in canada.they have a process there to register you so further processing will be after that.

Yes its a 1 time visa if you leave canada before your pr card arrives you wil have to assign sm1 to collect on ur behalf n den mail you n den you will have to get visa stamping done again..notva big process though

The PR card process starts once you apply for it and CIC receives your application.

You can only apply for the PR card once you land in Canada and have your passport and CoPR stamped, as you need copies of those to apply.

There is nothing stopping you from leaving the country the next day or even the same day, if you need or want to. However, the PR card application requires a Canadian address to be delivered to, and most people who do a soft landing usually give the address of a friend or relative in Canada for the PR card to be delivered to, and that person then couriers the card to them. If you don't get your PR card before you return to Canada again, you will need to apply for a PR travel visa from your country of residence and use that to re-enter Canada.

Silent Reader for a long time ......... Got the PPR today.

My story for the Immigration process is as follows:

Motivations for Canadian Immigration were:
  1. Crush on a girl (who recently got engaged with someone else!). Will be cursing IRCC for the rest of my life for slow processing of my case and IELTS organization for failing me for many times (lol).
  2. IT job market in North-America and opportunity to work in USA after becoming Canadian citizen.
My Profile and process:
  • 8 IELTS Attempts! (8th one did the job: L=9, W=7, S=8, R=8.5). Started my immigration plan and IELTS attempts somewhere in late 2017.
  • Applicant(s): Single
  • Education: ECA by IQAS (4 Year Bachelor's Degree, 2 Year Master's Degree).
  • NOC: 2073/Software Engineer (2 years 8 months experience)
  • CRS: 453
  • Nationality: Pakistan
  • Current Residence: Australia (Currently finishing my PhD here in Australia)
  • Invite: 05-September-2018
  • Medical: Upfront 10-September-2018

  • 2nd GCMS Notes in Feburary, 2019 (Medical & Criminality Passed, Eligibility: Review Required, Security: Not Started > Info Sharing: Completed).
  • Review was Required for POF. Sent an immediate CSE that I have provided a POF with all transaction history and got the standard response in Feburary, 2019. I then waited for 6 months to be completed and then raised the CSE after 14th March, 2019 with some tough words with political tone.
  • ADR 1: (22-March-2019) New POF required and Family Info form
  • ADR 2: (28-March-2019) Birth Certificate Requested
