Yes, that is very sad that insurance companies here are ready to cover cancer and aids and all kind of very expensive treatments, but not having a child. They are really wicked.
Midwifes is not cheap. One maison de naissance told us that it costs 4000$ which is not cheap. And if there is one small complication, we still would have to go to the hospital. Which would make the delivery even much more expensive. So it really is not much worth it to go to a midwife, because who knows what they consider a complication. Maybe the delivery is taking a bit long and they immediately send you to a hospital and get a comission for doing so.
And the only way is to be in a waiting list, since midwifes seems to be very in demand here. Very unfortunate to having to go trough this, just because the canadian government takes so long to give a person residency, while in Spain it takes just one month. Really unfair to my canadian husband who has to pay for his child to be born in this country.
