Spousal Sponsorship - Police Clearance

Hello,

I am at the very early stages of preparing the Spousal sponsorship application and my wife is applying for the Police Clearance certificate.

My wife’s nationality is Indian but she is currently residing in Malaysia where she is a PHD student. She left India when she was just over 17 years old and since then her trips to India have never been longer than a month.

Does she need to get the Police clearance certificate from India ??

She has received the Police Clearance certificate from Malaysia but I was wondering if she needs to apply for one in India too.

Police clearance are for
1) the country where they currently live (if you have lived there for 6+ months) which in her case would be Malaysia (if she has been there for 6+months)

2) The country where they have since (most of their lives) the age of 18...If she left India at 17 then it does not apply for her. She would need PCC from the country where she moved to after she left India, and spent most of her life (if it is a different country from Malaysia)

IRCC has the reputation of asking more PCC than what they list, get that Indian PCC just in case
