IEC WP to expire in Oct, what can I do if I want to keep working in the same job?

Hello there,

Am currently on an IEC working holiday visa due to expire in six months time in Oct.

I have applied for a skilled occupation level B job with a large employer in Quebec and been interviewed and received good feedback after the interviews. Their HR staff asked me to provide them with my work permit and SIN number last week. I also noticed that the job has been advertised for more than 30 days.

Am very keen on working for this company and would love to continue working for them after my current WP expires. What are my options in terms of the visa, please?
My understanding is IEC working permit cannot be extended. And there isn't a young professionals program between Canada and my country. Is it difficult to apply for a new work permit to work for a specific employer? What do I need?

Also, am currently 36 of age, don't have enough CRS score to apply for PR under EE. I don't speak French but planning to learn.

Appreciate your help on this!

P.S Also the current visa was granted to me in 2017, but I only stayed in the country for a short time and then had to leave due to family reason. I came back to the country only last month.

You would need an employer to sponsor an LMIA which would cost them at least 1000 dollars plus time to show that nobody else was available. It is generally very difficult to get any employer to go through the LMIA process unless someone has skills not readily available and the employer is prepared to go through the hassle of an LMIA

A closed work permit supported by an LMIA is your only realistic option based on the information you have provided. It typically takes an employer 4-6 months to complete the LMIA application process (with no guarantee of approval).

Note that the employer you have interviewed with would almost certainly need to advertise the job again before applying for an LMIA. The advertising requirements for the LMIA process are very specific and the employer must advertise in three separate locations that meet the LMIA requirements.

My current CRS score is 399. 36 of age, single, overseas bachelor degree, overseas 3+years skilled work experience, IELTS all 7&above, plus with a valid job offer NOC level B.
I would like to stay in Quebec coz of the different culture&language here.

By the way, thank you for the links. Looks like there might be a possibility that I could be exempted from LMIA as I am a work permit holder through participation in a program under the initiative International Experience Canada (IEC) and:

• is seeking to extend the work authorization for the current employer

I have been trying to call 888-242-2100 today but can't get through. Would you know please what documents do they normally require in a WP application?

You are not exempt from an LMIA.

You do not qualify to extend your IEC. Only those who meet the following criteria qualify to extend:

• you’re a Young Professional or International Co-op (Internship) participant
• you’ll be working for the same employer at the same location
• your job duties won’t change
• your original offer of employment was for a shorter amount of time than you’re eligible for, and
• your new offer of employment does not put you over the maximum amount of time that you’re eligible for
  • for example, if you’re eligible to work in Canada for 12 months and your first work permit was valid for 6 months, your new work permit can only be valid for a maximum of 6 more months.
