My spouse has a relationship interview coming up.

Last year, despite being inland, we took our chances and went abroad to see spouse’s parents & family.

Should I volunteer this information? Because it might help to prove genuineness of our relationship? We also have photos to prove our meeting

How long you were there? short trips are allowed (2-3 weeks or so) so you dont need to hide it. And yes in my opinion it can help your interview to show that both of you had a family visit together. Id bring the photos, flight tickets etc.

Was it the first time you met your spouse's family/parents?

Because then it would not be surprising they are calling you for an interview.

As a general rule: Only answer the questions they ask. Answer them truthfully and in a non-evasive manner.
If they have concerns about something specific (like not having met the parents of your spouse before) they will ask you about it anyway.

Be prepared, bring all the documents they requested, and anything else that helps prove you are in a genuine relationship. From the documents they requested from you that seems to be their main concern here.

How it's on the edge of trouble ? Nowhere it's mentioned we can't go out. It's recommend not to go only because they might stop you at border. But since we're already back it shouldn't be an issue? I hope I'm right?

I met his all family in Canada before except his father & 1 bro because they didn't get visa

If it is an inland application you are supposed to reside together inside Canada for the entire duration of the application. A short break here and there is ok.

2 months out of the country? You are in big trouble.

1 month? Kind of right on the edge where IRCC starts to get concerned. It should be fine, I think. However, going out of the country for a full month was a gamble on your end.

If they ask about meeting each other's families you have to mention it.

If they ask a kind of open-ended question like "Do you wish to provide any other details that may help to prove you are in a genuine relationship?", then by all means show them the pictures and tell them about the meeting.

This is all speculation though. They might have very specific concerns that have nothing to do with family meetings etc and they won't ask anything in that direction.

Hopefully your GCMS notes arrive before the interview. However, sometimes they won't mention what their specific concerns are.

Generally: If you ARE in a genuine relationship, you will most likely be able to convince them. Further: This is definitely the last hurdle. If you pass it, the application will be approved.
