Hello everyone
Does anyone know what exactly triggers a finger print request when you apply for citizenship?
I just can't understand how it helps IRCC assessing anyone's eligibility

if your name resembles the name of someone with criminal record - not even the same name, just similar - it could trigger finger print request

I received a finger print request recently, 3 weeks after I’d received my invitation to write the citizenship test.

I received my finger print request 3 days before my exam, still able to do my exam, passed it but wasn’t able to do oath taking, because they don’t have the result yet, so will wait till spring for oath taking!

Fingerprint requests are made when you have no first/given name or no last name also. I found out from my GCMS that they put a note saying that FP is needed since they received the application in Nova Scotia .

There seems to be very little logic applied to it to be honest. One of the few people I know who did NOT receive one has a very common name, a name that even gives her issues crossing the US border. I think everyone else I know of got one at anything from 4 to 15 months after applying.

In the case of 15 months, the process was quick (3 months) afterwards.
