Hi Guys!

We got our PR email on 25 January 2019. But as we were blessed with a baby girl in the same month (03 January 2019) we could not use this PR email for submitting our passports as we wanted to add our newborn to the application. I had already submitted her paperwork on 19 January 2019 and again on 29 January 2019. I submitted it again to Ottawa and Abu Dhabi VO because we did not include the two forms that needed to be filled and sent along with the required support.

Our daughter got added to the application on 01 February 2019. After a few days (11 February 2019), we got a revised PPR email from Abu Dhabi VO advising us that CPC Ottawa is ready to process our PPR.

The issue here is that the initial PPR email that we had received advised us to submit our passport to Abu Dhabi VO which is fine with us as we are based in Dubai. But the second revised PR email is telling us that we need to send the passports to CPC Ottawa. Plus it also states in the mail clearly that they can't return the passports to applicants based outside of Canada even if we sent the passports to them.

I raised the same query with Ottawa through CSE and advised them that we prefer to submit our passports to ADVO. But they are advising us to follow the instructions provided in the PR email. We are now totally confused here not sure what exactly we should do next. And the main twist here is that the Abu Dhabi VO was the one who sent the PR email advising us to send the passports to CPC Ottawa. They themselves should be well aware that we are not based in Canada so why sent a PR email advising us to submit it there.

Has anyone else faced a similar issue? How where you able to resolve this? Any guidance in this regards would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

The first email was under the impression that you had already landed and you were trying to sponsor your child.

I think you should write again to ADVO explaining that you re in Dubai and not in Canada, and they should change it.

Hi Guys!

Thank you for your valued comments regarding the issue highlighted.

I am happy to inform you that we got our Visa stamped and COPR issued here in Dubai.

I had submitted the email copy and passport at VFS Dubai and they accepted it.

Respected members, I request some guidance. I am running against time and will be obliged for a prompt help.

My family is non-accompanying, which means only I will be travelling, and not my wife/children. I plan to go first, and call my family later depending on how things go.

I submitted my application for PR in Oct 2018, and my wife was declared pregnant at that time. I had my second child in March, and I’ve got his Birth Certificate, Passport and Medical done and I uploaded these 3 documents at https://secure.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/canada-case-cas-eng.aspx. I got a confirmation from CIC that documents have been forwarded to a “concerned office” and they may get back to me if needed.

I got a Ready For Visa email 2 weeks ago. In this email there was a note that I must inform them immediately if there are changes to personal situation like a child birth. I dropped an email to CPC-CTD-Ottawa@cic.gc.ca, and I only got an automated reply that your case has been submitted. Not heard anything from them.

The problem is
  • There is a 30 day deadline for submitting the passport to VFS for stamping.
  • Its already been 15 days and I have not heard back from the “concerned office” if I need to take any further action.
  • When I login to my CIC account, I do not see my second child as my dependent yet. Only my wife is first child are showing.
  • The Ready for Visa states that it will be impossible to add a dependent, if a FINAL DECISION on your application is taken
Neither do I want to miss the 30 day deadline, nor do I want to be in a situation where it becomes impossible to add my second child as my dependent.

So can you please advise if I should submit my passport for stamping? Or wait for a few more days?

Best course of action is to contact them and see if they can send an internal reminder to the visa office handling your file
