Hello,

I'm sponsoring my husband and I'm a Canadian citizen. We sent our app on Dec 21, 2018. We really want to visit the US for the weekend at the end of March. My husband has an OWP, and the application is in process. He passed the medical exam but the background check or anything hasn't started.

I know there's a general recommendation not to leave, but is this applicable when he has the work permit? It's also only for a couple of days.

Thanks.

A work permit does not GUARANTEE he will be re-admitted to Canada.

The point here is that there is a risk, however small. He SHOULD be OK (and almost certainly will be). But no one can guarantee this and CBSA will not guarantee anything beforehand. IF by any chance he is refused entry, his Inland application will be considered abandoned.
