Hello everyone, when my work permit expire, I will only have 361 days of work experience (June 19, 2018 to June 15, 2019), am I qualified for "one year work experience"? I was hired on May, but I can't work until I got my work permit and social insurance number. Also, I can only apply AIPP after my work permit and social insurance number are expired. Can I still work for my employer (same employer from last year) when he applies AIPP for me? Or should I apply for the temporary visa to stay here, and wait to receive the work permit to work? How long does the AIPP work permit generally take?

You should send out the application for extending your visa on paper based, and then before you got rejected you could still work! Then you’ll be qualified for the “one year working experience “

However my social insurance number expire on the same date as my work permit expire... How can I get a new social insurance number when I am applying the new work permit?

Your SIN doesn’t expire and it won’t change until you got your PR

Thank you very much for your suggestion, it is very helpful for me! So if I apply for extending my work permit (in my case LMIA is needed if I want it to be successful), I would just give them all the materials excluding the LMIA? Does it has any bad influences on my future PR and work permit application, does it have any bad influence on my employer? My sin number starts with 9, so it is only good for one year. I will call the office tomorrow to see what can I do.

I never heard people got trouble with extending their visa, nor the employer. The truth is it takes nearly 6 months for applying a LMIA, nearly everyone around me has to extend their visa in this way. In my case the last time I extended my own visa, I only showed the documents states that my employer already applied for my LMIA, I got the visa for 1 year! I know it may differ but you just have to try. Good luck

As you said, I just want to get "one year experience". My employer does not plan to apply LMIA for me. Do you know if I can still apply to extend the work permit without any LMIA materials in the application (I don't need it to be approved, I just need to work when I wait)?

Yes just like I said earlier, you can still work till the day they reject your visa extension.

SIN number does not change until PR but it does expire.
Thank you for your information! Do you mean I can apply for AIPP even I only worked for 361 days rather than a full year if I worked for more than 1560 hours? Should I apply for the close work permit right after my employer submit the endorsement or wait for the endorsement to get approved? The employer who is helping me with my AIPP is my current employer, can I work for him when I am waiting for the endorsement/ close work permit?
