I went through a representative who advised me to obtain all my documents in advance of the E-APR submission.
I paid all fees and submitted my bio-metrics and police clearance reports because I wanted to avoid any delays of CIC making a request any additional documents.
My E-APR was submitted on September 8 2018.
There was nothing missing from my application and I have not received any request for additional documents.

My lawyer sent me a screen shot in December 2018 showing the following status:
Review of Eligibility - We are reviewing weather you meet eligibility requirements
Review of medical results - You passed the Medical
Review of additional documents - We do not need additional documents
Interview - You do not need an interview. We will send you a message if this changes.
Bio-metrics - We do not need your fingerprints. We will send you a message if this changes.
Background check - We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information
Final Decision - Your application is in progress. We will send you a message once the final decision has been made.

There have been no further updates on my application and today will officially make six months.

On average (not CIC estimated timeline) how long does this process take for people in CEC and FWS ?
After the elapsed six months how longer can i anticipate before i hear anything ?
My lawyer's retainer fee will be due in a few months and i really don't want to keep paying them just to check the status of my application. Is there any way for me to gain access to my own account without having to go through the lawyer ?

-It takes 6 months for 80% of cases, and the remainder take a bit longer depending one each individual case. I'd suggest you order GCMS notes if you haven't already done so, so see if there may be things requiring additional review, therefore delaying the result.

-It's really hard to say when you can expect a response if you're past this limit. It could be right around the corner as we speak, with a delay of just a few days, or your application may be put for additional review. Many applications get processed in like 7 months, being the collateral of some backlogs in some offices.

-Normally, nothing should keep you from obtaining your credentials, but of course your consultant will be inflexible about it. If he refuses, you can raise a complaint to IRCC. But you know, checking your account every once in a while won't be of much help, as those statuses often don't change at all. However, I hope he would be reactive enough if you're requested for any additional document.
