Need some advice for applying visit visa after expiration of my study permit

Hi fellows,

I am kind of in a terrible situation. So my study permit expired in Dec 31st 2018, and I have been living in States for the past 4 months, (I left Canada before my study permit expired). It has been only 2 months since the date when my study permit expired.

The thing is, I have dropped out of the university and have no interest in returning back again (though I have completed 3 years of my undergrad). But I have to go back to Canada for some Banking work as well as some other stuff which was left undone like getting my university transcript. Another important thing that I have to do is also look for flight school in Canada. Yes, I have decided that I will do my flight training in Canada but I cant apply for study permit without visiting the flight schools first and then making the decision.

What I think I will do is once I get the visit visa approved, I will go and look around for the right flight school and then make a final decision of starting my flight training in Canada. And then I will apply for a study permit while remaining in Canada on visit visa.

So my question is, what do you think about my plan? Is it a good idea to get the visit visa first and then apply study permit? Or its better to apply for study permit extension, since I have some time for restoration?

Thanks

The restoration + extension would only work if you had never left Canada and were still attending school. You'll need to apply for a new study permit. It's possible you may have challenges getting the study permit approved since you dropped out of your previous studies in Canada. You'll need to write a very strong SOP.

Thank you so much for your response.

Then the other option that I am thinking is getting a visit visa, go look for the flight schools and then make the decision whether I wanna do my training in Canada or not. The thing is I am still not sure whether I really wanna do my flight training in Canada, I am still trying to figure which would be the best option for me. I may end up staying here in California and do my flight training. But I am not sure.

So my question, what do you think of my chances are for getting the Tourist Visa? Considering the fact that I dropped out of my undergrad, do you think that could be a problem in even getting my tourist visa approved?

Thanks

You cant restore after leaving the country, chances of Visa approval will probably depend mostly on your ability to show strong ties to your home country and that you are going to leave after visiting.
